UNICA Webinar
Integrating Heterogeneous Real-World Cancer Data
The EUCAIM CDM and Hyper-Ontology for Semantic Interoperability
June 26, 2026 | 12:00 CEST
About the Webinar
As cancer research increasingly relies on distributed and heterogeneous datasets, semantic interoperability has become one of the key challenges for enabling large-scale collaboration across Europe. This webinar, jointly organised by UNICA consortium partners 81Watts, POLIMI, and UPV, in collaboration with EIBIR and FORTH, explores how the European Cancer Imaging Initiative (EUCAIM) is building interoperable and FAIR-compliant infrastructures for cancer imaging research.
The session will present the EUCAIM hyper-ontology and Common Data Model, designed to harmonise clinical, biological, and imaging data across distributed repositories and healthcare environments. Participants will gain insight into semantic mappings, ontology-driven integration, FAIR data practices, and federated approaches that support privacy-preserving AI development without transferring sensitive patient data.
Real-world examples in breast and prostate cancer will demonstrate how semantically enriched infrastructures enable scalable federated querying, image annotation, and trustworthy AI applications across institutions. The webinar will also highlight UNICA’s broader vision for holistic and interoperable cancer data integration across Europe.
